A Geek Who Gives a Fuck: Identifying as agender, with a twist

dcoetzee:

Although I’m male-assigned-at-birth, for a long time I’ve not really identified as a conventional male gender role. I felt no conflict in pursuing interests or expressing myself in ways traditionally viewed as female from a young age, and I grew frustrated with people (mostly males) who would…

My random thoughts on Dee’s post.

The interesting thing about Dee and I is that I’ve found it increasingly difficult to keep my pronouns straight when referring to them (they’re just… not really gendered, to me, and evidently to themself). So I slip and slide between they and he and she and sometimes ze as fits, and I know a random sampling of my friends would receive a rather varied response as to what gender my partner actually is. But neither of us can actually be misgendered, being fairly pronoun-fluid, so it works!

(I’ve recently discovered “bothfriend” as an alternative to boyfriend and girlfriend, and think it’s cute - although in their case they’re really a “neitherfriend”, aren’t they? And anyway Dee’s rather inclined against activism through words, preferring to avoid neologisms [hence the use of ‘they’ over ‘ze’, which would irk my inner grammar stickler less], so my using either would be just to annoy them! Which I do a lot :D)

About

Avatar The name's Kiran, but I go by Key (mostly because you'd be surprised how many people can't seem to grasp how the former's pronounced). I'm a queer geeky Kiwi klutz who seems to collect mental disorders like some do stamps.

I also moderate the genderfluidity tumblr - my posts are all tagged with "Key".

The Marvel (and occasionally other fandom) stuff is all at my feels blog and some of the art I post at deviantART is also rebloggable at my art blog.
